Frequently Asked Questions
Please read our frequently asked questions to find out more. Please contact us if you have additional questions
Do I need off-road driving experience
Not at all. Our adventures are designed for drivers of all experience levels. Before each trip, our experienced guides provide a thorough safety briefing and driving tips to help you feel comfortable behind the wheel. Whether it's your first off-road adventure or you've been exploring trails for years, we'll make sure you're ready for an unforgettable experience.
What kind of vehicle do I need?
Most of our adventures are designed for high-clearance 4WD vehicles such as Ford Raptors, Broncos, Jeeps, Toyota Tacomas, 4Runners, Land Cruisers, and similar off-road capable trucks and SUVs. Check out our specific vehicle minimum requirements page.
Are your tours guided?
Yes. Every adventure is professionally guided by our experienced trail leaders who know the terrain, local culture, and best scenic stops. Our goal is for you to relax and enjoy the journey while we handle the navigation and logistics.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, a refillable water bottle, snacks, your camera, and any personal medications. Before each adventure we will provide a detailed packing checklist before departure.
Are meals and lodging included?
It depends on the adventure. Many of our multi-day tours include hotel accommodations and select meals (breakfast and dinner)
Do you book accomodations for us?
Gone are the days of spending hours searching for the best hotels in Baja. We've already taken care of that for you. What's more, we go the extra mile by handling the booking process as well! Just sit back, relax, and let us take care of the check-in for you.
Will I need a passport?
Yes. A valid passport is required for any tour that crosses into Mexico. We recommend ensuring your passport is valid well before your travel dates.
How far in advance should I book?
Our tours often fill several months in advance, especially our Baja adventure runs and special events like RaptorPalooza. We recommend reserving your spot as early as possible to secure your preferred dates.
We also offer local Arizona day & night runs. Keep checking back on our website or socials like Facebook & Instagram to stay informed on all of our upcoming adventures.
What happens when we cross the border?
Feeling anxious about crossing the border into Mexico? There's no need for concern when you're with Coyote. We provide peace of mind with our experienced bilingual guide who will assist you throughout the process. Having facilitated the crossing process hundreds of times, we ensure a smooth and straightforward experience, making sure you cross the border easily.
What about safety?
We prioritize your safety by guiding you through secure areas only. However, staying alert to your surroundings is always wise. Your guide, Art, who was born and raised in Baja, knows the terrain like the back of his hand, enabling us to maintain your safety throughout the journey. Moreover, our group sticks together, bolstering our collective security.
What if I don't speak Spanish?
Coyote offers unparalleled travel experiences, thanks to our founder and guide, Art Macfarland. Art's deep connection with Baja comes from his extensive history with the region. He's not only explored Baja on a solo cycling trip but also has a network of friends and family there. This has given him unique insights into the culture and hidden gems that only a local would know. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Art now resides in Arizona but remains passionate about taking travelers to his homeland to discover its most breathtaking spots.
Do you plan the routes?
Feeling overwhelmed with planning your next trip? Unsure if you're getting the best deals or worried you might miss out on hidden gems? And let's not even start on the time it takes to put everything together. We understand these challenges, which is why we've crafted the perfect adventure for you. Just join us, and you can be confident that you'll experience the very best of Baja without any of the hassle.
What if my vehicle breaks down?
Need a mechanic? We've got great news for you! A skilled mechanic always accompanies us, ready to put in their utmost effort to fix your vehicle on the spot. On the off chance that a repair isn't possible, don't worry – our chase vehicle equipped with a trailer is on standby to ensure your vehicle is transported back home safely and securely.
